April 12th – New Events added!

We are adding some new events to the calendar!


April 15-16th – Chinese Kite Festival in Lahaina on Maui, Hawaii -Celebrate the colorful world of kites during a this Chinese Kite Festival on Maui at the Wo Hing Museum in Lahaina on Friday from 2 to 7 pm. Enjoy an exhibit of handmade kites in traditional and modern styles. Participate in making a giant tetrahedral kite or purchase one of the many kites for sale. Hear a talk on the significance and history of kites around the world. There will be Chinese music and entertainment, cultural games, Chinese tea in the garden. On Saturday, go fly a kite! This family event takes place at the Lahaina Cannery Mall Open Space Lawn off Hwy. 30 from 9 am to 2 pm. Watch aerial displays of acrobatic sport kites, a Chinese dragon kite and kite fighting by members of Hawaii Kitefliers Association. Fly your own kite for prizes; it’s all FREE.

April 16th – Bel Air Kite Festival – Bel Air, MD Calling kids of all ages to the 11th annual Bel Air Kite Festival! To be held at Rockfield Park in Bel Air, Maryland on April 16th from 10am to 4pm. Bring a kite, a blanket & chairs, and a picnic lunch for a day of fun – you can sit back, watch the kites, and enjoy the music too. If you’ve never flown before there will be lots of volunteers to help. Go fly a kite!!

April 16th – Lexington Parks and Recreation Kite Fest, Lexington, KY Kite Fest Noon–4 pm, Saturday, April 16  Jacobson Park Admission: Free The skies of Jacobson Park will be filled with hundreds of kites this spring as Kite Fest returns for another year. Join us as we celebrate National Kite Month and our first major outdoor event of the season. Free activities will include kite flying, children’s games, special entertainment, kite making and much more. Food and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the day or families may pack a lunch and picnic in the park

April 17th – Santa Maria Valley Discovery Museum Free Family Kite Festival, Santa Maria, CA People of all ages will send hundreds of brightly colored kites soaring into the sky this Sunday, April 17, at the 7th annual Santa Maria Valley Discovery Museum Free Family Kite Festival. More than 3,000 people are expected to attend this popular community event, which will run from noon to 4 p.m. at Rotary Centennial Park, 2625 S. College Drive, in Santa Maria. The Kite Festival will feature professional kite-flying demonstrations, contests, food, vendors and music by family rock band BIRDIE. There will also be a “hospital” at the park for kites that need first aid.

April 23rd – Earth Day Festival, Macomb, Illinois – Every year for the past 10 years I’ve set up a booth at Western Illinois University Campus Greens’ “Earth Day Festival.”
I tether some fun kites to bamboo poles and kids take turns “flying” them in the park space.

April 23rd – Spring Fun Fly, Glen Rock, PA – This is an all day fun fly on a scenic hill surrounded by open fields. The event will be highly visible from I-83.

April 23rd – Medina Earth Day Festival, Seville, OH Medina Earth Day Festival 8708 Hubbard Valley Rd. Seville, Ohio (FD,CKW) 10:00am04:00pm Medina County’s 20th Annual Earth  Day Festival Buffalo Creek Retreat Come celebrate Earth Day at Medina County Park District’s Buffalo Creek Retreat just south of Hubbard Valley Park. There will be earth friendly exhibits, a family fishing derby, kids’ activities, food, and much more, so bring the whole family for a fun filled day. Additional parking for this event will be at Hubbard Valley Park with shuttle service provided to Buffalo Creek. All ages welcome. No registration required. Free.

April 25th – Kites in Flight, Wisconsin Rapids, WI South Wood County Recreation Center – Kite demonstrations.

April 30th – Spring Skies Over Rock Ridge, Youngstown, OH Free Join the celebration of kites and all things that float, soar and fly through the skies! Ohio Society for the Elevation of Kites will brighten the skies with expert kite flying and ingenious designs. Bring your own kite to fly and enter in free games. Enjoy free bubble, glider, and pinwheel activities. Create-a-kite and sky crafts offered for small fee.
