Wednesday, April 12, 2017 Hanscom AFB Elementary School Kite Day Hanscom AFB, MA – 3rd Grade class Kite Day. Kite demonstrations, building, history, geography, arts and science of kites. Indoor and outdoor kite flying. This is a private event.
Wednesday, April 12, 2017 STEM Kite Workshop Chattanooga, TN – Chuck Jones will be conducting a STEM kite workshop for two classes that are pulled together. One is a 7th grade pre-Algebra class and the other is an 8th grade Physical Science class. Participants will build a kite, calculate area in sq. inches, convert to sq. ft., find their weight in grams, convert to pounds, and use a formula to figure out how much wind is needed to fly the kite. Friday, April 14, 2017 Chinese Kite Festival & Kite Festival Flying Lahaina Lahaina, HI – Celebrate the wide world of kites and national kite month during this two-day Maui event: On Friday between 10 am and 8:30 pm, a traditional Chinese Kite Festival takes place at the Wo Hing Museum on Front Street. Enjoy an exhibit of handmade kites in traditional and modern styles. Help make a large kite to be flown the next day; purchase one of the many kites for sale. Hear presentations on the history of kites around the world and kite sports. There will be Chinese music and entertainment, teas and food samples served in the garden.
On Saturday, take the whole family to fly kites from 9 am to 2 pm! This outdoor event takes place on the Lahaina Cannery Mall’s open lawn off Honoapiilani Hwy. Watch aerial displays of acrobatic sport kites and kite fighting from Hawaii Kitefliers Association. Bring your own kite to fly and get tips from the kite masters. It’s all free. Hawaii Kite Master Robert Loera and Colorado Kite Master George Peters will be on site both days.
Friday, April 14, 2017 49th Annual Great Delaware Kite Festival Lewes, DE – The Great Delaware Kite Festival, co-sponsored by the Lewes Chamber of Commerce and the Delaware Division of Parks and Recreation, takes place at Cape Henlopen State Park on Good Friday, April 14, 2017. For the past several years, event organizers have noticed a trend toward participants’ later arrival times. In an effort to maximize attendance, the schedule was changed two years ago to reflect the attendance pattern and included an Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m. to kick off the day, followed by the kite competitions for children and teens. The highest kite competition follows at approximately 1 p.m. and is open to all ages. Another new activity added was an egg toss competition that will take place again this year immediately after the highest kite contest. The adult competitions will begin at approximately 2 p.m., interspersed with professional stunt kite flying demonstrations. Note that the times may vary according to weather conditions and the number of competitors.
Friday, April 14, 2017 Marmoom Heritage Village Kite Fest Al Marmoom Heritage Village, organised in collaboration with Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, is gearing up to host a Kite Festival on April 14 and 15.

The Kite Festival is one of the highlights of the existing line-up of cultural shows that are attracting crowds to the venue. The Heritage Village is the main attraction of the Al Marmoom Camel Race Festival, one of the GCC’s sporting events of the year.

Saturday, April 15, 2017 Flights of Fancy Kite Festival Lee’s Summit, MO – Look up in the skies above the picturesque Longview campus of Metropolitan Community College in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and you will see a virtual masterpiece of nylon art. Kites as large as three-story buildings float effortlessly against the backdrop of the springtime sky. Other kites twirl, swoop and dive, much to the astonishment of the gathering crowd.

Flights of Fancy is held annually on the third Saturday in April. We invite you to join the fun on April 15, 2017

Saturday, April 15, 2017 Adelaide International Kite Festival Adeliade, Australia – Come along to Semaphore beach over the Easter long weekend in 2017 and watch the sky fill with colour, twists and twirls, kites of all shapes and size – when the Adelaide International Kite Festival returns!

The 2017 Festival will feature international guest kite flyers from New Zealand and Malaysia! As always, we will have kite flyers from interstate and locally in South Australia flying too.

As in 2015 and 2016, the Festival Marketplace will return with stallholders selling their wares and running activities for all to be involved in. This area is on the foreshore and open 11am – 5pm daily so be sure to check it out.

The AIKF is run by the Adelaide Kite Flyers Association in conjunction with K Marie Events, and was established in 1997.
Saturday, April 15, 2017 Lexington Kite Festival Lexington, KY – Celebrate National Kite Month and Parks & Recreation’s first major outdoor event of the season. Free activities will include kite flying, children’s games, special entertainment, kite making and more. This year entertainment will include a magician and an obstacle course.

Food vendors will be on-site throughout the day or families may pack a lunch and picnic in the park.
Saturday, April 15, 2017 Blue Ridge Kite Festival Salem, VA – 19th Annual Blue Ridge Kite Festival is always a highlight of Spring, a crowd of 7-10 thousand people normally attend this event. Kiters from up and down the East Coast come to this event to show their skills and enjoy the hospitality of the folks in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Saturday, April 15, 2017 Lewis and Clark Confluence Tower Annual Wind Festival Missouri – The festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Gateway Kite Club will showcase their kites during the April event. Club members will bring their trainer kites for those interested in learning how to fly like the pros.

“The Wind Festival is a wonderful family event,” said Deanna Barnes, project manager for the village of Hartford. “The tower is the perfect place to take advantage of the winds in our area to fly kites. And, of course, we appreciate the Gateway Kite Club, which has helped make this event a success year after year.”
