The Boka Boka Kite

A simple paper-fold Philippine sled kite.

You will need for each kite:

  • 1 Sheet of copier paper (8 1/2 x 11);
  • A lenght of sewing thread 44" for bridle.

You will need for each group:

  • Scotch Tape
  • Crayons or Markers to decorate the sail
  • More sewing thread for flying line

Now let's begin...

  • Make 2 8 1/2" lines parallel to the short side each 2 3/4" in from the ends
  • Mark two bridle connection points: a 1" line parallel to the long side 2 1/8" down from the long edge extending to the edges of the paper.
  • Lay the bridle ends along the 1" line and secure them with a 1" piece of scotch tape.
  • Tie a small loop in the exact center of the bridle.
  • Fold up the side wings 90° along the 8 1/2" lines drawn in step 1.
  • Decorate kite sails
  • Attach a length of flying line (5' or so) to the bridle loop.
